Time Commitment
Pray about whether or not to fast for 3, 21 or 40 days.
Go Without Food
Fast one meal per day.
Eat only one meal per day.
Fast from sweets, sodas, or other non-essentials.
Complete liquid fast (drink only water or other liquids). NOTE: Please consult a doctor first, if you have never done this.
Go Without Sleep
Rise earlier than normal each day to pray.
Pray a night-watch - one hour or more in the middle of each night.
Stay up later to pray each day.
Pray throughout the night.
Sign up for night slots in the prayer room.
Other Valuable Spiritual Disciplines During Your Fast
Media Influence: Eliminate television, secular music, newspapers, magazines, movies and computer as entertainment.
Spending: Eliminate unnecessary spending, choosing to buy only essentials, eat at home instead of out.
Other: Commit to putting aside any habit or practice that might keep you from focusing on seeking God's heart during this season.
